How the PM-SYM calculation works
- Years of payment = 60 minus your age at joining.
- You pay in all = monthly amount × years × 12.
- Government pays in all = the same as you.
- Months to get your money back = what you paid ÷ ₹3,000.
- Pension in today's money = ₹3,000 ÷ (1 + inflation) ^ years until 60.
Example: joining at 25, you pay ₹80 a month for 35 years, ₹33,600 in all. The government adds ₹33,600, so ₹67,200 goes in. From 60 you get ₹3,000 a month, and the pension pays back your own ₹33,600 in 12 months.
| Join at | You pay in all | Pension months to get it back |
|---|---|---|
| 18 | ₹27,720 | 10 months |
| 25 | ₹33,600 | 12 months |
| 30 | ₹37,800 | 13 months |
| 35 | ₹45,000 | 15 months |
| 40 | ₹48,000 | 16 months |
