Editorial policy

The calculators, scheme pages and guides are built and written by Utkarsh Patel, a software engineer with an interest in personal finance. Each page shows who wrote it and when it was last reviewed. BlogBanking is not a government website and is not linked to any bank, post office or government department.

Every rule, rate and limit comes from an official source, and each page lists its sources:

• Small savings schemes (PPF, SSY, NSC, KVP, SCSS, Post Office deposits): Ministry of Finance notifications and India Post.
• EPF and EPS: EPFO and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
• NPS, APY and UPS: PFRDA and the Ministry of Finance.
• RBI bonds, bank rules and holidays: the Reserve Bank of India.
• Tax: the Income-tax Act, 2025, the Income-tax Rules, 2026 and the Finance Acts.
• Other schemes such as PM-SYM and PM Surya Ghar: the ministry that runs the scheme and its official portal.

News reports, social media posts and forwarded messages are never used as a source. Where a rule is announced but not yet notified, the page says so and keeps the current rule.

• Each rule is written once in the code, with a note of the notification it comes from. Every calculator and page that uses it reads the same value, so one update changes them all.
• Figures in the text, tables and examples are worked out by the same engines as the calculators, never typed in by hand.
• Every formula is checked against worked examples from the official source before a page goes live.
• The maths behind each calculator is explained on how we calculate.

• Small savings rates are checked every quarter, when the government announces them. The current rates are for October to December 2026.
• Tax pages are reviewed after every Union Budget, Finance Act and notified rule change.
• Scheme pages are reviewed when the scheme's rules change, and at least once a year.
• Every page shows the date it was last reviewed.

• Advice to buy, sell or invest in anything. Pages explain the rules and do the maths; the decision is yours.
• Buy or avoid ratings for IPOs, or grey market premium (GMP) figures, because they are unofficial.
• Loan offers, loan apps or links that ask for your PAN, Aadhaar or bank details. Government schemes are applied for on official portals or at the bank or post office.
• Paid placements presented as information.
